Mattingley

Dear Mattingley families and friends,

This week in the Mattingley room we have been focusing on families and have been very busy putting up our family tree. According to the Early Years Learning Framework right from birth children are connected to their family, community, culture and place. Their earliest development and learning takes place through these relationships, particularly within families, who are a child’s first and most influential educators. As children participate in everyday life, they develop interests and construct their own identities and understandings of the world.

As educators within the Mattingley classroom we view the context of family as central to children’s sense of being and belonging and to success in lifelong learning. We feel that it is vital for children to be able to see themselves as well as their family within their learning environment. That is why we have been working towards our family tree, focusing this week on displaying our family photos. The children have been loving spending time sharing their family photos with each other, explaining who is in the photo and why they love them.

Please if you haven’t already done so could you bring in or email through your family photo so you can join our Mattingley family tree. If you need to email them through please send them to kmason@pac.edu.au and we will print them out.

We hope you have a lovely weekend,

Kimberley & Coral
