Mead

Dear Mead Room families,
A lot can happen in a week!

We celebrated Ellie’s 4th Birthday;

Ellie – We bought party hats from the shops, everyone sang ‘Happy Birthday dear Ellie’ and there were dinosaur candles!

We welcomed Lachlan home from Bali;

Lachlan – an elephant kissed me!

We are still exuberantly caring for our babies in the home corner and Miss Jess asked if we would like to see baby Ruby have a bath.  Yes Please!  So we excitedly prepared for baby Ruby to visit Mead Room.

Lucy – Babies only like little sounds

Jack – or else they cry

Scarlet – They like to have a dummy

Abi – we need to be gentle with babies

Ellie – Babies can'.
.3.3t talk

So Miss Jess and baby Ruby arrived…. And we tried to be as quiet as we could so we didn’t startle her.  Then Miss Jess gave Ruby a bath!

Ellie – She’s little

Lola – my Poppy has a bath

Miss Jess filled up the bath with warm water then Ruby had her bath.  Even though she can't talk like we do we knew how she was feeling because we looked at the expression on her face…. She was smiling.

Aston – Happy!

Thankyou Miss Jess and Ruby!

We had another visitor this week too.  Scarlet’s cousin Josh shared amazing information with us about their grandfather, Ronald.  When he was young he went to the other side of the world and flew planes so that we can live peacefully and safely today.  Josh showed us Ronald’s  medals and photos of when he was young, aswell as photos of what he looks like today.  We compared the two photos and noticed he had changed quite a bit…………

Don’t’ forget the Family Easter Egg Hunt and Picnic is on this Sunday, 22nd March @ 3pm. Tusmore Park.

Have a great weekend,
Melissa and Maddie

Wilkins

Dear Families,

This week in the Wilkins room the children have been busy creating beautiful masterpieces at the art easel. The children have been on nature walks collecting leaves to add to their art pieces which has led to discussions about change of seasons. We have also been doing self portrait drawings over photos of our faces and we have been discussing facial features here is what a few children had to say.

Hamish – Dats Hamish eye brows ( points at eye brows ) Deres my mouf and my hand.
Joshua- Its Joshy. A big smile. An ELC one. That’s my baby teeth then I’m going to get big adult teeth.

Thankyou from Wilkins team.

Harmony Day

Our ELC was awash with orange today as we celebrated Harmony Day! The children enjoyed creating a letter in each class that work together to spell HARMONY filled with different coloured handprints, to symbolise that we are all different and we all join together to work in peace and harmony.

Chapple

Dear Chapple Families

After reading Hairy McClary, some of the children have made some lovely collages of the famous dog.

The mechanics workshop is taking shape and the children are enjoying the experience.

William: “Hey guys, Watch out I am trying to work here!”

Sage: “Anyone seen my screwdriver?”

The wheels are soon to be going round on our big red bus. The children had great fun getting it ready and thinking about what should be on our bus.

Just a reminder that optional parents’ interview are available Tuesday 31st March and 1st April, please see a member of Chapple room for available timeslots.

Langley

Dear Langley Families,
This week we have been chatting a lot about the people we care about. We have sat on the couch admiring the family wall that we have created, the children love telling their friends about their loved ones in the photos. We have also been chatting about how to care for our friends, using gentle hands and kind words. Miss Renee and the children have been creating a friendship art piece which will soon be displayed for you all to see, the children have loved getting their hands dirty and having a laugh together.

Next Wednesday we have Grandies Day!
If your child is booked in for Wednesday it would be great if they could be dropped into the classroom before 9:15 and their Grandparents wait in the town square for our concert.

If your child is not booked in for Wednesday they can come with their Grandparents but they will need to stay with their Grandparents.
Looking forward to seeing you all there!

Have a fantastic weekend,
Miss Emily, Miss Renee, Miss Brooke, Miss Sarah.

Cooper

Hello Cooper friends and families,

This week the Cooper children have been enjoying outdoor story time. We have been sitting near the entrance to the ELC under the shade of the beautiful trees to listen to the stories before rest time. The class have loved to explore this area after story time to see if the leaves had started to fall. We were quite fascinated in how some of the trees had yellow leaves at the top but still had green leaves lower to the ground. All of the children are more than welcome to bring in leaves and other items from home that have started to change during Autumn and share them with the class. We will set up a table for our Autumn collection to be displayed on.

We have also put our Circle of Friends made by all of the Cooper children on display by the Cooper door. Please take a moment to read the responses from the children about why they feel it's important to have friends.

Have a lovely weekend

Jain & Cris

Angwin

Dear Angwin Families

Angwin children were busy bees this week thinking about the seasonal changes that are occurring.

“I’m so cold this morning” said Scarlett on the way to gym. When we got back to our classroom the children wondered why all of a sudden it has begun to feel cold in the mornings, when previously every morning in Angwin was warm?

“It’s because it’s autumn” said Allegra

“Not my name Autumn. It’s because my Mummy and Daddy love autumn so they gave their baby name Autumn!” said Autumn

“Leaves change red and fall off” explained Leon

“The tree that has leaves fall off, that’s called deciduous. Daddy told me and it sounds like Desyllas!!!” said Scarlett

“It’s autumn because it’s windy” said Allegra

“Because it’s too cold” said Lucille

“Because it’s not summer” said Allegra

“It’s because it’s turning winter!” exclaimed Sujay

“It actually goes round in a circle, all the different time of the year, first winter, hot, spring, then summer” explained Leon clearly

“And don’t forget autumn” smiled Lucille

We collected autumn leaves and sorted and displayed them. We found a tree just outside the kindy that has begun to change colour…but you have to look up high because it’s right at the top!! We recorded what we discovered and are going to continue to photograph the tree to track it’s colour changes. Our big question that we are still wondering about is why? Why do they change? What a mystery!

Love the Angwin Team

Mattingley

Dear Mattingley families and friends,

This week in the Mattingley room we have been focusing on families and have been very busy putting up our family tree. According to the Early Years Learning Framework right from birth children are connected to their family, community, culture and place. Their earliest development and learning takes place through these relationships, particularly within families, who are a child’s first and most influential educators. As children participate in everyday life, they develop interests and construct their own identities and understandings of the world.

As educators within the Mattingley classroom we view the context of family as central to children’s sense of being and belonging and to success in lifelong learning. We feel that it is vital for children to be able to see themselves as well as their family within their learning environment. That is why we have been working towards our family tree, focusing this week on displaying our family photos. The children have been loving spending time sharing their family photos with each other, explaining who is in the photo and why they love them.

Please if you haven’t already done so could you bring in or email through your family photo so you can join our Mattingley family tree. If you need to email them through please send them to kmason@pac.edu.au and we will print them out.

We hope you have a lovely weekend,

Kimberley & Coral

Edgerley

Dear Parents and Friends,

The Edgerley class has been so creative this week with lots of exploration into 2D and 3D shapes. The boys have enjoyed manipulating the polydrons and kikko construction to form some amazing shapes and designs… They have enjoyed it so much, we have started to work on some 3D building projects, using corks and popsticks. If anyone has any spare corks… we are desperate to keep our buildings growing onwards and upwards! We have celebrated a double birthday for Jack and Mrs Nacca on Wednesday and it seems all the 5th birthdays are beginning!

It has been beautiful weather to enjoy time outside, riding bikes, building in the sandpit and playing cricket! The children are starting to feel the change in season, with cooler mornings and changes in nature around us… do send the children in their warm tops please… quite a few of the boys have been unwell this week.

Kind Regards,

Pip, Emma, Ty and Rosalie
