Our ELC and Prep School families joined together to celebrate the wonderful way our school explored and investigates the Arts in our curriculum. The theme for this year’s celebration was “Illuminating Creativity”. As the evening became darker our Prep School was transformed into a fairyland wonder of different Arts – theatre, music, dance, drama. The ELC’s installation was in the Chapel this year. We showcased different investigations we have been pursuing in our Unit of Inquiry “Shadowlands”.

Langley and Wilkins made a city scene with a night sky collage inspired by Van Gogh’s Starry Starry Night painting.

Mead, Mattingley and Cooper rooms showcased their investigations into shadows in their booths using photos and their computers to run slideshows of their experiences.

Edgerley room made a camping scene where they have been thinking about day and night, with a slideshow running about their exciting investigations into camping.

Chapple children made some wonderful collages, using sunset and sunrise colours to create images of shadows on buildings.

Angwin children have been exploring coloured sand on the light table inspired by a You Tube clip featuring “Requiem of Sand” by Kseniya Simonova of Ukraine’s Got Talent. Their investigations were portrayed in a range of photos of the children working with the sand in their room.

It was a fantastic way for us to work with the Prep School to showcase the amazing work we do, using many different mediums to pursue our inquiries.
