In the Classrooms

Langley

Recently the children have been engaged with story tables where we have been able to retell our own versions of familiar stories using adjuncts. Our story this week has been ‘Dear Zoo’ and it has been a huge hit with the children. Oscar and Miss Jess retold the story to Alex,

“I wrote to the zoo to send me a pet and they sent me…” said Miss Jess,

“An e-phant (elephant)!” said Oscar excitedly as he lifted the flap in the story book. He hunted for the elephant amongst the boxes,

"But he was….” said Miss Jess,

“too big!” cried Oscar, “so I sent ‘im back” he added as he put the elephant back in the box.

So they sent me….” said Miss Jess as Oscar turned the page, “A giraffe!” said Oscar as he pulled the giraffe out of its box.

“But he was….” said Miss Jess, “too tall!” continued Oscar, “so I sent ‘im back” he added.

Oscar continued with the story as Alex helped him to hunt for some of the animals in the boxes. What a wonderful way to develop relationships and practice our literacy skills all at the same time.

Kind regards,

Jess, Kerry, Jennifer and Hayley Mead

Dear Mead Parents, We have been busy doing some secret brewing and mixing of potions in the Mead room this week. We can't say much more, as it is a surprise for our Mums - but we have had alot of fun! Have a wonderful Easter everyone,

Best wishes,

Emma M, Susan L and Emma G Cooper

The Cooper children have enjoyed our Easter preparations this week. We read egg and chicken books and sang our hopping bunny song. Everyone made a bunny basket just in case the Easter bunny called in and we talked about what might happen at Easter time…

“When people are kind the Easter Bunny comes… Wild rabbits live at farms and deserts. Wild rabbits actually have sharp teeth” Harry told us.

“They live in cages” said Deacon.

“So they can’t do anything or bite people” said Harry.

“The Easter Bunny give you a lot of eggs ‘cause he got a big basket” said Deacon hopefully.

“He gives lots of chocolate” said Tom.

“Easter Bunnies drop chocolate when they’re out” Alex said.

“Easter Bunny eat chocolate” thought Austin.

“He carries Easter eggs… And guess what I’m getting at Easter! A big, fat Easter egg!” said Oliver.

“Where is the Easter bunny?” wondered Ajeet.

“In the North Pole” answered Charlie.

“He makes chocolate Easter eggs” said Aidan.

On Thursday Mrs Bishop told the Easter story to all the ELC children and on Friday there was a very special surprise! We hope that everyone has a happy holiday break and look forward to seeing you back in Cooper in Term 2.

Kind regards,

Ali and Susan Chapple

What an exciting way to end the term with shark hunts and Easter egg hunts!! The children have been very interested in sharks, since one escaped and is lurking around our kindy. We have made binoculars and torches to search with and shark teeth and puppets to play with and have looked up information in books and on the internet to find out the answers to our interesting questions! On a not so scary note, we have been busy preparing for Easter celebrations, making baskets for eggs and fluffy bunny ears to hop around in. Thank you all for a wonderful first term, we appreciate your support and we are looking forward to a fun filled holiday program!

Enjoy the Easter break, warm wishes -

Suria, Sinead, Rachel and Sue Edgerley

Dear Edgerley Parents,

We have had a busy week collecting mini bugs (you may have noticed our growing collection on the piece of Styrofoam. We have also begun to collect feather and seed pods “because that’s what museums have, but NOT scats, we don’t want scats” said Louie We have talking a lot about rules for collecting bugs. These are the rules we came up with:

You can catch butterflies if you can catch them but they are really fast!

If you see something with a stinger you have to ask an adult for a glass jar, this includes bees!!

Nobody is allowed to touch or collect spiders because sometimes the bad spiders try to trick you by looking like good spiders and then they bite you .

You cannot pull the wings or legs of living insects because it’s not nice (we developed this new rule just today!)

Happy Hunting
