 Dear Langley Families and Friends,

Over these two weeks we have continued our conversations about what foods are good for our bodies. On Tuesday Morning, week one - we enjoyed a variety of foods for morning tea and spoke about what we ate.

James – “Beet-bid.”

Samuel – “I like pear and yogurt.”

Roy – “Yummy. Banana.”

We collected some beautiful flowers when we went for a walk around the school and Oliver brought a beautiful bunch from his garden. We have been using them as a provocation for painting, the children have created some stunning impressions!

We also enjoyed a picnic morning tea in the middle school oval a few times and went for an adventure creating our own bear hunt. The children used their imagination as we used places around the school to represent scenes from the bear hunt! Have a look at the book we made if you get a chance.

Miss Renee’s mum visited the Langley room and helped us build a garden area, we all planted flowers and spoke about how to care for them and the rest of our environment.

For parents who have children that are toilet training : If you are bringing your child in nappies/pull ups and would like them to go without during the day, can you please help us out by taking them off your child when you arrive at the ELC or please let us know so that there isn’t any confusion.

Angwin

Dear Angwin families and friends,

It has been another busy and fun filled week for our Angwin children.

Thank you to some families who have brought in recycled bottles and containers for our class garden project. The children had fun sharing their creative minds and hands as they drew and wrote on the containers using their great minds and imagination. 

The little pallet garden that we have created is slowly coming along and we cant wait to see the flowers bloom as we take responsibility of taking care of our newly planted flowers. 

We have been loving the outdoors lately and loved having races, chases and games at the oval. We even got lucky to watch students from Cabra Catholic School play with their drumming band.

On Thursday, we cooked green eggs and ham inspired by Ashlyn's home cooking experience and knowledge on how to make yummy eggs. We helped cutting the ham in pieces and putting it the bowl as well as beating the eggs until they were fluffy. What a yummy treat it was! 

We also loved our little playdough making challenge between the yellow team and the green team. Now, we are slowly adding more elements to our playdough like lemon zest to enhance our our sensory experience. 

All in all, the last two weeks have been a blast and we cant wait to have Mrs Schmidt and Mrs Bishop back and enjoy our last term before heading out to the big new world as students in Reception.

Wilkins

Dear Wilkins families and friends,

What a wonderful second week of the holidays we’ve had. We have been very busy throughout this week.

On Tuesday we decided to take our afternoon tea out on the big oval and go have a picnic as it was such wonderful weather. We enjoyed walking over to the tennis courts for a run after. What a wonderful experience we had.

On Wednesday Mrs Nicole brought in her milkshake maker and some bananas. We enjoyed talking about how the bananas and milk made our milkshakes for us to drink. It was very noisy!

On Thursday Miss Ellen brought in some milk biscuits and some lollies for us to decorate and enjoy eating after. We spread the icing on ourselves and then placed as many M&M’s, lolly snakes and sour jubes on our biscuit as we liked.  This was very fun!

Alexander – “Mmm yummy!”

As it is also becoming warmer could you please remember to pack a few changes of clothes as we will be enjoying water play outside.

Can we also please remember to apply sunscreen on your child/children before you drop them off to the Early Learning Centre. We will re-apply after rest time.

Thank you for another wonderful week in the Wilkins room. We look forward to welcoming the final term of the year next week.

Dear Cooper Room families and friends,

Our Spring Program has come to an end and we can say we have had an exciting two weeks!

On Tuesday after the long weekend we continued with Yoga to wind down our bodies and minds before sleep time. The Yoga poses we have been focusing on are Bound Angle Pose, Garland Pose, Mountain Pose, Upward Salute, Tree Pose, Downward-Facing Dog, Cat Pose and the Corpse Pose. The children have really been enjoying Yoga and their poses and balancing have been quite impressive.

Andrew: Music! It has music!

Lewis: Calm.

Sebastien: Whispering and resting. It’s resting our bodies.

Kingsley: Quiet and be real gentle, no pew pew!

On Wednesday we went over to the Tennis Courts and chased bubbles. We had all sorts of bubbles for the children to run around and pop. This was so much fun for the children!

On Thursday we went over to the Red Centre and continued with running races, ball games, group games and free play.

On Friday we ended the week with an adventure outside exploring the school grounds and making our way to the Rainbow Playground at the Prep School for a play.

Thank you Miss Georgia for spending the past two weeks in the Cooper Room and caring for our children. We loved meeting and touching Jerry your friendly pet snake!

Chapple

Dear Chapple Families and Friends,

Thankyou for joining us for the first week of our holiday program! The children have had a lovely week and have enjoyed several experiences that we don't usually get to do during the term!

This week the children made potato stamps and created some gorgeous art work! We also planted a variety of herbs and vegetables in one of our garden beds. We have chosen foods that the chickens particularly love so we are able to pick fresh produce for our gorgeous hard working girls.

Finishing off the week in the sunshine with a picnic in the prep school garden (like the reception children we almost are) and a big play in their Rainbow playground.

Please remember that next week we have a few special days!

Tuesday: Movie Day and Pyjama Day

Wednesday: Disco! Wear your favourite party outfit! (No Superheros please)

Thursday: Wheels Day! Children can bring their bike or scooter to school. They must also bring a helmet in order to participate.

Mead

Hello Mead friends and families,

During week 1 of the Spring holiday program the Mead Room were very busy exploring the Big Boy School. On Monday we walked up to the Prep School for morning tea and then spent time exploring the Rainbow Playground.

The children loved exploring so much that we decided to walk up to the Senior School to share our fruit platters and investigate on Tuesday. We discovered that there was a function being set up in the Piper Pavilion, we walked around all the buildings and ate our morning tea in the Secret Garden. When we arrived at the Secret Garden Spencer spotted two very beautiful birds exploring the trees. 

We walked over to the Red Centre on Wednesday to participate in some fundamental movement activities and we also watched the children participating in the tennis clinic. 

On Thursday we walked to the tennis courts with the Cooper children to play balls games and chase bubbles and to finish off the week on Friday we cooked up a storm on the Mead Room making pancakes. 

Throughout the whole week the children explored the creatures of the sea with our underwater world investigation, they refined their sorting skills at the rainbow sorting activity and created their own interpretation of spring blossoms at the painting easels.

Hi Mattingley friends and families,

This week we have shared some cooking experiences. On Wednesday we visited the Angwin children to steam some vegetables, then on Thursday they came us to to cook pancakes. I wonder if you can guess how many machines we used to make our lives easier? Tuesday was our dress up day and what fun we had acting out Cinderella and Snow White.

Next week- Friday is a casual clothes day.

Polite reminder-  Please can all parents bring a named water bottle, named hat and spare clothes in your child's bag. As the warm weather is here, there is likely to be water play most  days. Thank you

Dear Cooper Room families and friends,

The first week of the Spring Program has been an exciting start as we kicked off with outings, exploration and fun…

We commenced the week exploring the school grounds and making our way to Prep School Rainbow Playground. It was a glorious day so we decided to take our morning fruit with us to have a picnic in the school garden.

On Tuesday Miss C brought in a blender and we made some delicious and refreshing banana and honey smoothies. The children are asking for more so we will continue with smoothies next week. 

On Wednesday it was the Cooper Room’s first visit to the Red Centre. We engaged in running races to enhance physical play whilst other children played group games or free play. 

On Thursday we walked over to the Tennis Courts and played some ball games. The children enjoyed to run freely whilst others found their own spaces to play with their friends. 

On Friday to provide the children with some down time we ended the week with a session of meditation and relaxation. To commence the session we sit with our legs crossed and take three deep cleansing breaths to focus and still the mind. We continued with body stretches to calm and relax the body in preparation for a short relaxation in the yoga pose.

During the week we had a very friendly visitor ‘Jerry’ Miss Georgia’s pet snake. Jerry is a Murray Darling Python and he spent a few hours in our classroom. We had other classrooms come visit Jerry and some of the Cooper Children were even brave enough to touch Jerry.  What an exciting experience this was!

Wilkins

This week in the Wilkins room we have had so much fun it has just flown by!

We have enjoyed the beautiful sunshine and have taken the opportunity to have some water play. We have had lots of fun taking our shoes off and getting our feet wet with the cold, sandy water.

On Wednesday some of us were lucky enough to meet Miss Georgia's snake, Jerry! We were very brave and got to feel his slippery skin. The children thought it was funny when Miss Karla had a hold and Jerry slithered up her arm.

We have continued to enjoy creating sculptures with the boxes that some families have bought in from home. Miss Nicole and Miss Karla are in the process of displaying them for us!

The Wilkins children have really enjoyed stories at group time. Our favourites at the moment are Little Lumpy and We' re Going on a Bear Hunt. We even found We' re Going on a Bear Hunt on You Tube and watched the animation. We loved it! Especially when we saw the bear, we all screamed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As the weather is getting warmer... can you please pack a school T-shirt in your child's bag. We know its still a bit chilly in the mornings but are finding children are getting hot as the day goes on. We are more than happy to change your child's clothing to suit the weather. Can you also please pack a spare pair of pants/shorts for when we are having too much fun with the water and get wet! Thank you.

Angwin

Dear Families and Friends

Week 1 of our Spring program kicked off with lots of adventures for our Angwin people.

We explored places around the PAC campus in search of beautiful spring blooms and enjoyed playing games and read stories in these little hideouts.

The children really loved being in the Senior school area where they played hide and seek and circle games in the big boys courtyard.

"It's like a jungle in here, with big trees and red berries everywhere", Samuel said.

"I bet there are treasures to find in here if we look", Caitlyn added.

"Kicking a footy here is fun", Cameron said.

The lovely weather gave the children the opportunity to engage in fun outdoor play whether it might be in the sandpit, mud kitchen, on bikes or playing ballgames with their friends.

We have been collecting our materials for our garden project next week and we can't wait to plant flowers and vegetables while doing our bit for the environment by using recyclable materials.

The Angwin children have been excitedly talking about being soon-to-be Reception children and have been worried that Mrs Rocca would be lonely when they leave and thought that playing with the Mattingley children will help her feel better. They decided to have playtime with their younger peers and a chance to hang out with Ms Bowden too. They engaged in some cooking time together and enjoyed their steamed corn, sweet potato as well as some delicious pancakes.

On Wednesday, we were lucky to have a taste of Autumn's piano recital piece as she played the tunes with Mr Angus on our pianola with the other children singing along to "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star".  

Our large paper shared drawings are getting a lot of interest and have been giving the children opportunities to engage in active communication and positive interactions as they share their ideas, experiences and creativity together.

We can't wait to continue our adventures next week.

7th Wednesday is Casual clothes day. Feel free to send your children in their casual clothes but please ensure they are still appropriate for play. Please also pack a complete set of spare clothes for your children for water and mud play possibilities.

We are also needing some help collecting the following materials for our garden project.
