Mead

Hello Mead families and friends,

This week we continue to have low numbers within the room which has been a great opportunity for the children to participate in small group times and choosing from an array of spontaneous and planned experiences/activities inside and outside.

Miss Melissa created salt play dough for the children in order for them to create with; they chose to put shells in them. The children participated in a ‘Sink or Swim’ activity with Miss Elodie.

Construction has been a strong interest within the room this week, building tall towers with the wooden blocks, connecting a long train track along the floor and building with the Lego pieces.

A big hit this week was watching a movie with other classes in our dining area!

On Tuesday the 4 year olds participated in water play, having their own ‘Wet & Wild’ day, some of the Mead children joined in on all the fun, ending up completely saturated with water but with a big smile across their face. This gave us the idea to have our very own ‘Wet & Wild’ day next Friday 22nd. If you could please remember to pack your children bathers and a towel and a spare set of clothes to change into if necessary.

Enjoy your weekend.

Miss Elodie and Miss Melissa

Wilkins

Dear Wilkins families and friends!
What a wonderful week we have had in the Wilkins room.
During this week we have been interested in our new ‘Hospital’ in the classroom. We have been talking about what happens when you aren’t feeling well and where you need to go if you hurt yourself. The Wilkins friends have enjoyed being doctors and patients.
Paige – ‘Lay down Danica!’
Alexander – ‘Medicine!’
We have also enjoyed being hairdressers this week in the Wilkins room. We have loved combing and spraying each other’s hair in the hairdressing salon. We have also enjoyed talking about the different hair types everybody has.
What a success our wheels day was!
Our Wilkins friends loved bringing their bikes and scooters to school and sharing them with their peers. Our Wilkins friends liked racing with each other down the ELC carpark and sharing their scooters or bikes with the children that forgot to bring theirs. Thank you so much to everyone that participated on Thursday.
Thank you for another wonderful week, have a safe and lovely weekend.

Love Miss Kim, Mrs Nicole, Miss Ellen and Miss Georgia xxxx

Cooper

Hi Cooper families,

With the hot weather on Wednesday, the Cooper children were very lucky to get involved in the 4 year old children's Wet Wet Wet Day!
With sprinklers aflow, water balloons bursting, hoses sprinkling and puddles filling, many of the children took the opportunity to 'get wet' with little or no hesitation.

The children watched on with enquiring eyes as the water tried to make its way down the water course and under the bridge - which was full of leaves!
With shrieks of delight and lots of laughter as each child got wetter and wetter, it was definitely LOTS of fun.

With the temperatures rising again next week, we will have our own Water Play day next Friday 22nd January.

Langley

Dear Families and Friends,

We have had a busy week this week, welcoming more friends back to school that are returning from holidays.

To escape the warm weather we had a lot of water play, using the sprinkler and buckets of water we shared a lot of laughs. This lead to more conversations about waterfalls – the children are showing interest in learning new knowledge about waterfalls. We will work together to create our own!

A few of the children mentioned that Father Christmas left them karaoke machines under the tree, we decided to create a performing area. Having a stage, instruments and even a REAL microphone! The children loved creating sound and taking the spotlight to perform for one another!

Thursday was bike day, we blocked off the car park and rode around. Some of the children who had bikes were so generous and lent them to their friends who didn't have one, how kind!

Welcome to Savni and Lachlan, you have both done so well at settling into the Langley Room. We are looking forward to getting to know you more and watch you learn and grow.

Much love,

Miss Emily, Miss Brooke and Miss Renee.

Mattingley

Dear Mattingley friends and families,

Welcome back to the ELC after the holidays! It sounds like all the children have had a very busy time catching up with loved ones and have been doing a lot of sightseeing.

It has been a week of colour in the new Angwin room. Dominic has taken an interest in rainbows which has led the children to become artists using the easels. Whilst Wolf has shared a photo of his family in Andy Warhole style that sparked us to create a photo booth for taking silly photos for us to paint next week.

To finish off a fun filled week, we took Miss Kim for a wander around the school grounds as she is new to the centre.

Cooper

Dear Cooper Families

Well, first week back after a lovely but very hot Christmas and New Year Break. The children have all really settled back into the ELC very well and with much enthusiasm for the year to come. We have had a very relaxed week this week with a lovely small group of children on most days which was nice to have the opportunity for some lovely and positive interactions between the children and the educators.

There was lots of discussions about our Christmas and New Year Celebrations that we spent with our families and how they can look different for each family. We visited the rainbow Playground, which is always a hit.

Miss Jennifer made some lovely orange Playdo with the Cooper Children on Monday which has been well loved throughout the week in the home corner too.

The frozen dinosaurs made a “cool” addition to the classroom this week too.

Love from

Miss Kendall, Miss Faye & Miss Jennifer and Miss Adele

Angwin

Dear Angwin friends and families,

Year 2016 is here and we hope you all had taken the time to enjoy relaxing or celebrating during the holidays.
We would also like to congratulate Mrs Schmidt and her family as they welcome another bundle of joy named Louis born on 21st December 2015.

We welcome a few of our Angwin children back to the ELC and we all have been enjoying a quiet start to the year. As the Angwin Room is being used by the upcoming children from the Mattingley, the boys and girls have been helping us decide how they think the new room (Chapple) should be like for the little ones coming up to visit. They thought of different toys and games that some of the Langley children and new ones to the Centre would love to have in the room. Bless them!

In the quietness of the first week, the children enjoyed creating different vehicles that they believe will keep the baddies away from people using duplo and mobile. They built ambulances, police cars, police bikes even jails with bars to make sure the bad guys don't get away. The policemen must be very quick at coming as well to make sure everybody stay safe. They have also been talking about and illustrating the highlights of their holidays. It made Mrs Rocca's  staycation  (at home) sound boring that it already was!

Please remember to keep these dates and activities for next week

Tuesday : Wet and Wild Day. Please bring bathers and towels for children to enjoy a day in the sun

Friday: Casual Top day: Send in your children wearing a casual top ( P.S. If we can avoid superhero ones, that would be fantastic)

Thank and Cheers

Coney and Faye

Edgerley and Chapple

Dear Edgerley and Chapple families and friends,

Welcome back! We hope you all have had a wonderful break with your loved ones and enjoyed a bit of down time!

It has been lovely listening to the children talk about their exciting adventures and fun that was had over the holidays. This week the children enjoyed visiting the rainbow playground, dancing and playing games at our disco and practising their throwing and kicking skills with ball games on the back oval.

Due to the weather forecast, next weeks BBQ and camping day on Tuesday will need to be postponed until it is a little cooler.

Please also note that the Chapple Room has now made the permanent move next to the Mead Room! Come and check out our new space!

Kind Regards

Mrs Shakespear, Mrs Nacca, Mr Ty and Miss Gray

Wilkins

Dear Wilkins familes and friends

Happy Near Year!

We are in full swing and ready for a fun filled year. We were lucky enough to welcome some new children into the Wilkins class! They’ve settled in well and have enjoyed the different activities we have prepared for them all.

We would like to say a HUGE congratulations to Miss Karla and her husband Pete on the birth of their beautiful baby girl, Alana Jean on 2nd January. They’re all doing well and we hope to have a visit soon!

We hope to re-schedule our wheels day for Thursday 14th January. Providing the weather isn’t too hot we invite children to bring their bikes or scooters to school.
Please bring a helmet also as we hope to be able to use the carpark as a track.

This week we welcomed Miss Kim into our class. Miss Kim will be in the Wilkins room on Wednesdays and Thursdays!! We were very excited to meet her!

The children who are moving to the Mead room have been lucky enough to have lots of visits to their new class. They’ve enjoyed playing in the big yard, stories, singing songs, gluing and meeting their new teacher Miss Elodie.

We have also enjoyed texta drawings, puzzles, reading stories, building train tracks and playing with the Australian animals.

Thanks for a great first week.

Nicole, Ellen and Georgia

Langley

Dear Langley Families and Friends,

Welcome back! We hope you all had a nice break, a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year!  It has been lovely to see all your friendly faces again!

This week the children have taken a particular interest in caring for the baby dolls, they have worked together in bathing, feeding, and dressing, nursing and playing with their babies. There have been (and will be) many new baby brothers and sisters recently for some of the Langley children, we hope that they are helping around at home like they have been for their baby dolls at school.

After the holidays the children were talking a lot about the beach, we decided it would be great for the children to investigate further by setting up an underwater world in the class room. The children have been exploring photos on the overhead projector and the sea animals on the light table. Some children have even been looking at their shadows from the overhead projector creating their own sea creatures with their shadows.

While it was quiet one morning we were lucky enough to have a play in the big yard, the children loved watching the chickens, copying their clucking sounds and even working up the courage to touch them.

We would really love for you to bring in a family photo to display in the class room. This gives the children a feeling of belonging, being recognized and respected for who they are. They may also become aware of connections and similarities between their friends.

Have a great weekend,

Miss Brooke, Miss Emily and Miss Renee.

Mead

Hello Mead families and friends,

This week there were quite are few children still on holiday and so we have smaller numbers.

Our children have been busy and having a fun time as usual in the Mead Room this week. We have been enjoying outside and indoor activities. The children collected branches and leaves from the playground area to create a campfire setting. They had many ideas for making a campfire. Spencer said "we can use the flint or wood to make the fire". "We can use the salt and soil to stop fire burning," Christopher added.

Children enjoyed playing different activities with some children drawing and some made crafts. Lucy said she made a present for Miss Melissa; she made a froggy and umbrella. Lachlan said he built a gaol car and Max said "I made things too."

We made playdough on Monday.

On Wednesday the children found a partner to make their own coloured ice container and they added dinosaurs and trees.

Lucy said : I want to make blue colour and she added some red colouring
Scarlet : I want the green colour and she put a dinosaur and tree into the container
Spencer : I want yellow.
Max: I want green with a dinosaur
Kartik + Lachlan chose blue
Lloyd +Lachlan they wanted chose yellow

In the coming weeks we will be spending time planning many new activities for children to experience and enjoy.
.
We hope you all have a great and happy year in 2016 with your friends and families. Also please welcome our new co-educator Elodie to our Mead room.

Miss Melissa and Miss Elodie
