Dear Mattingley
families and friends,
Oh what a week we
have just had celebrating the last week of term and our last week in the
Mattingley classroom together.
Walter gave Mrs
Mason a very big scare when he brought in a real snake skin on Monday that he had
acquired over the weekend from his new neighbor's pet python.
When the
snake gets bigger the skin gets tighter and it can't wear it anymore. He has to
shred it off. Then there is a new skin under every layer. Walter explained to us as
we carefully took a closer look. The snake skins was very delicate so we had
to use really soft caring hands to touch it.
Later in
the week Ashton's big brother, Carter came in to do some science
experiments with us. Using bicarb soda and vinegar he was able to make a
chemical reaction in a small plastic tube which pushed a little blue rocket off
its launch pad. He then mixed the same ingredients with some washing liquid
and red food coloring to make a volcano erupt. We would like to say a big
thank you to Carter for coming in and sharing his science experiments with us.
We look forward to making our very own volcano in our sandpit.
During the week
it really started to look a lot like Christmas in the Mattingley classroom. The
children worked together with Mrs Rocca to put up our Christmas tree. We
managed to find some decorations in the store room, however the children are
looking forward to making their own decorations over the next two weeks . We
also been very busy making some special reindeer food to help the reindeers
find their way on Christmas Eve. If you haven't already done so please make
sure you take a packet. You will find it by our classroom door, if not please
ask and we will help you find some.
We would like to
say a big thank you to all our families that were able to make it to our
Christmas party. It was a lovely way to celebrate our time together drawing to
a close. There was lots of excitement, laughter and food shared
between our families. Coney and I would like to say a big thank you for all
your support over the year. We wouldn't have been able to do the things we
have done in the classroom without our wonderful families. We also need to
say a big thank you for all your kinds words and gifts we have both
received this week. We are both overwhelmed by your kindness and feel so
blessed to have spent the last year with your children. We have had so much fun
going on their learning journey with them, watching them learn and grow each
and every day. We look forward to seeing what the new year brings for them.
We wish you all a
very Merry Christmas and a very happy and safe new year.
Kimberley and Coney
