Mead

Dear Mead Room families and friends,

Our recycling inquiry has moved on to our own paper waste.  The children have thoroughly revelled in utilising the collage experiences, which in turn revealed a keen interest in developing scissor skill proficiency!  To extend the two experiences the children have begun eagerly snipping our used paper, old magazines and newspaper so that we may create our own new paper from the old.

We hope you have been hearing a lot of rhyming used at home lately! We have been investigating rhyme, talking explicitly about rhyme, letters and sounds.  We have been discovering rhyme in the books that we read, the songs that we sing, and we are creating our own rhyming verses for a song that we sing here in the Mead Room, The Pirate Song.
We read ‘Room on the Broom’ and found a plethora of rhyming words! We had to add to them!!

Elsie – cat and spat
Zahli – dog and frog
Houyi – frog and log
Harry – bird and blurred
Anwen – fire and wire
Grace-Marie – roam and bone
Jimmy – road and bode
Isla B – sky and my
Ginger – broom and moon

Each day the children take it in turns to hold a responsible position in the Mead Room. From  line leader to door holder, counting the friends at morning meeting or being our weather watcher.  These responsible roles enable each child to take on leadership roles in a safe and supportive environment, support the smooth running of our day and, and its lots of fun too!

Take care of each other,

Melissa and Georgia
