Dear Mead Room families and friends,
We are still so delighted and thrilled
to have our 4 not so little chicks in the Mead Room. They are growing so quickly! On Monday we took them outside for a run in
the sun. We made a circle on the grass
and made an enclosure with our bodies. They
loved it!! They flapped their wings and ran as fast as they could, even
becoming airborne which was a source of great hilarity, and some
consternation! They are now just over
two weeks old, and growing some beautiful feathers. We have noticed that they have changed
considerably in appearance!
We have made our own book of ‘Creatures
that hatch from eggs’ – it is located next to the chicks and is a wealth of
information.
We were inspired from our Egg book to
continue writing books, this time collaboratively. We have written one story per day this week,
with illustrations to follow…. stay tuned…..

In actual fact we welcomed a creature
that hatched from an egg to the ELC this week!
‘Squid’ the blue-tongue lizard is visiting us from the Nature Education
Centre and is in residence for another few days. It has been a wonderful way for our inquiry
into eggs (and the creatures that emerge from them) to become even more
relevant to the Mead Room children.
