Dear Parents,
Despite the wet weather the Edgerley children have been
really enjoying the outdoors this week. A large group of boys have been digging
for worms and wanted to bring them back to our classroom. We have discussed
what we already know about worms;
They help grow plants - William
They can dig holes by themselves - Jake
There's pink ones and black ones - Ben
Worms aren't poisonous - Sylas
They eat soil - David
and what we want to find out;
What different types of worms there are? - William
Whether they lived in prehistoric times? - David
What types lived with the dinosaurs? - William
If they were alive in prehistoric times, why didn't they get
extinct? - David
We watched some fascinating short documentaries on worms which
taught us lots of interesting facts and answered some of our questions, but
still need to do more research to find out the answers to all our questions!
With the large waffle blocks the boys have been constructing "warm
catchers". They have even had some life sized Edgerley worms that
they caught inside!
In our room a jungle is growing. Beware if you
enter as there is a jaguar and many poisonous snakes roaming around. We
are investigating different jungle animals and creating many out of
junk materials. Come and take a cautious look!
