Edgerley

Dear Edgerley Families,

What a wonderful start to the term with the boys jumping feet first into projects based around dinosaurs. You may have already noticed that the classroom has been taken over by rough skinned giants! Initial discussions about what the boys already know about dinosaurs has revealed interests in what they ate, where they lived and how they died out. The boys were particularly interested to discover what dinosaurs lived around Adelaide.

Through the lens of our units “Our Natural World” and “Being Together” we plan to further explore some of these concepts and relate them to habitats and sustainability in our own lives.

We have two visitors in our classroom at the moment thanks to Stefan’s fishing skills. Just inside our door we have two yabbies. Stefan has been telling us all the things he knows about them and, with Mr Ty’s help we have begun to find other information from various sources. We have added a chart to the cupboard to collect suggestions for names. Please take a moment to get creative with your child and add some suggestions to the chart.

This week we started illustrating special ideas in our drawing books. We will visit these books weekly to record things that are special to us, reflect on our experiences and chart our growth in the area of fine motor control.

Next week you will find information about our phonics program in your child’s locker as we begin our phonics program.

A big welcome to Kartik, Felix, Sebastian and Mrs Bishop who will join us for the next six months.

Kind regards

Mel, Emma and Ty
