We hustled and hopped, tunnelled and wiggled, ran and
jumped. But most of all we smiled. It was great to see so much fun being shared
with children, parents, friends and grandparents. It has to be one of our best
sports days.

Cooper
Dear Cooper families,
We have had a lovely and busy last
week of term. We have been lucky enough to have beautiful weather all week and
we made the most of it, by having picnics on the oval and practicing duck, duck
goose in preparation for Sports Day.
The Cooper class have been
particularly engaged in both the inside and outside kitchen areas this week. We
have been making yummy soups, cakes, muffins and a range of other meals for our
teachers and friends.
Thank you to all of the Cooper
children and their families for such a great term together.
Love Miss Gilbert and Miss C
Langley
Hi Langley families
and friends,
This week children
have been very interested in the story ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’. We decided
to journey around the classroom and hunt for the bear – we got very close but
luckily made it home safe!
We have been doing
some work with clocks and numbers. Children have enjoyed matching number rocks
to the numbers on clocks - even making their own clocks with pop sticks.
We’ve also
celebrated a couple of birthdays this week. A very big Happy 3rd
Birthday to Teddy and Samuel – thank you for sharing some yummy treats with us!
Have a great
weekend
Renee, Emily, Brooke and Sarah
Mattingley
All aboard the Mattingley express!
Our train project that we have been making this term is finally
starting to take shape. The children have spent a lot of time carefully
choosing the colours to paint the carriages. Using our classroom computers we
researched what steam engines look like and with Harry BB's extensive knowledge
we were able to choose what colour it should be.
Next week in the Spring
program the children will continue to use the computers to research the finer
details of the steam engine so they can begin to add detail to their project.
We look forward to watching it take shape.
There will be no show and tell next week as it is the Spring
program.
We hope you have a wonderful weekend,
Kimberley and Coral
Mead
Dear Mead Families
We have created something amazing
together!
A Carocket!
Last week we gathered all of the machine
parts we removed when disassembling machines that no longer functioned and
talked about what we could do with them.
Lachlan – put them in the bin
Christopher – recycle
Banjo – make something
Louis – I like cars, make a car
Aston – I like rockets
Lucas – I like rockets too
Many Mead Room friends liked the idea of
making something, and cars and rockets were favourably received by all. Just one thing… we didn’t have enough parts
to make a car and a rocket….. so the idea of the Carocket was imagined.
We worked together over many days to make
our ideas a reality, using collaboration and teamwork, lots of trial and error,
and then finally….. ta da!
Thankyou so much to all of the parents
and caregivers who were able to attend Sports Day, we understand that many more
would have liked to have come! The
children thoroughly revelled in the activities of the morning.
Leonardo – I ran in all the races and
raced with my Daddy
Braxton – I liked running
Lola – I liked running with my Grandma
Hannah – I played a running game
Happy Birthday Lachlan! And a Happy Birthday wish for Ned, who will
be turning 4 in the school holidays!!
Have a great weekend, and enjoy some
time in the sun!

Wilkins
Wow what an eventful week we have had this week in the Wilkins
room!
We have enjoyed spending lots of time outside in the spring
sunshine!
The children have enjoyed using our new buckets and spades in the
sandpit
and helping Miss Nicole and Miss Sarah sift all the rocks out of
the sand.
We have all enjoyed the craft table and had fun creating beautiful
masterpieces
using boxes, tape and glue as well as painting some lovely
pictures.
As always the play dough has been a hit. We enjoy creating cakes
and singing
happy birthday to our friends.
We also had a fabulous time at our sports day. We had running
races, played ball and
learnt some new yoga moves. Thanks to all the parents who came to
watch us!
Have a great weekend and we will see you next week
Nicole, Sarah, Karla and Ellen
Just a reminder that we need to wear hats when outside. Please
ensure your child
has a named hat provided. You're welcome to leave them here in the
hat basket.
Edgerley
Dear
Edgerley families,
We
have had another wonderful week – including the Sports Day on Thursday where we
had many energetic and excited Edgerley children participate. We welcomed back
William who returned from his trip to China, and shared many snippets and
answered lots of the children’s questions about the food and animals there.
On
Tuesday we gave a Yoga performance for Mr Andary and Mrs Garland where we all performed
the yoga poses we have learnt to a story. These poses included butterfly, cat,
dog, eagle, mountain and helicopter to name a few. Ask your children to show
you these at home!
(We do
yoga) “because it makes you get big and strong” – Sylas
(We do
yoga) “because it makes you feel good” - Oscar
We are
particularly enjoying the writing table, where many children are making their
own books, and the play dough table with letter cut outs. We have all confirmed
what sporting house we are in for sports day, and who these sporting houses are
named after and what colour they are.
We had
another visit from Lenny the Lamb to support our social skills. This week we
talked about entering play and how we can do this. As the children move from
‘parallel play’ to more reciprocal play they need to step up to a new set of
skills – such as waiting, taking turns, empathising, sharing ideas etc. Joining
into a group can be quite a challenge for some, so this discussion was helpful
in suggesting ways they can use their words, make eye contact and use a
friendly voice to name a few ideas.
“Maybe
you can say …if you let me play I’ll be your friend forever” offered Stefan.
“You
could ask the teacher to tell them” suggested Regan.
“You
could use your words first and then tell them” David recommended.
For Show and Tell we shared our favourite
sport and many children brought in sporting equipment which made its way to the
outdoors and was played with throughout the day. We have lots of budding AFL
players in the Edgerley Room!
The next two weeks is school holidays and the holiday program will be running. Mrs Nacca and Miss Kendall will be in the Edgerley Room for the two weeks and have an exciting program prepared. Happy holidays to those of you taking them.

Best
wishes,
Chapple
Dear Chapple families
We read a very funny and strange book called
The Paper Bag Princess.
We thought about what does a princess look
like?
Annie: Looks like she is wearing a wedding
dress but she is not.
Oliver: They look beautiful.
Carter: They have a crown.
Ned; A beautiful dress.
Finny: Wear a tu-tu and pink shoes.
Olive: High heels.
Scarlett: Beautiful jewels.
Carter: Sparkles on the dress.
Harrison T: Beautiful crowns.
Loukas- Blonde hair.
Isaac: Wear a tiara
Carter: Sit a special chair.
Lachlan: A throne.
This book proved to be a little bit different
and challenged the way we think.
We had great fun making our own paper bag
princesses and turning them into puppet shows.
Bernie was the very first recipient of the
Chapple Champion. I sure it will spur on many more to get one.
Just a reminder a school hat is now required for outside
play.
It amazing to think this is nearly our last term together.
Thanks
Chapple Room

Edgerley
Dear Edgerley Families and
Friends,
This week the Edgerley children
have been exploring a variety of machines in our School community. On Tuesday
the children visited the big year 8 boys at EduKart which is a unique Year 8 hands-on, made for
boys program, which connects curriculum to a real life context through the
building, testing and racing of an electric powered go-kart.
“I liked seeing they have batteries and a motor”
Oliver shared.
“There was electricity in them” Andrei explained.
“I liked tooting the horn” David said.
“I liked seeing the wheels turn” Oscar shared.
On Friday the children visited
the maintenance workshop. They enjoyed watching machines in action, and were
particularly interested in the grinder.
“I saw the grinder and it twisted
round and round and it spins faster and faster” Regan explained
“I learnt that you can’t touch
the fire from the grinder ‘coz it’s really hot” warned Johnny.
“I had to put my ear plugs in my
ear because there was so much noise” Ollie said.
“I loved the drill, it drills
holes and rollie stuff came out” Varish described.
Enjoy your weekend!
