New Door Code

From next Tuesday- 31st January - we will have a new code for our door . We change this regularly for the safety of all the children in the ELC. There is a slip of paper with the new code in your child's pigeon hole and Mrs Porter has copies at the front desk . If you forget it please ring the doorbell ! Please do not pass this code on to your older children or allow them to use the code pad as it defeats the purpose of having a security system . You are welcome to give it to other carers who regularly collect your children.

Holiday Fun

We have had lots of summer fun at the ELC this week. Many of the children have been busy constructing amazing box creations turning them into trains, planes and skyscrapers.

At storytime the children requested a well known fable ,The Gingerbread Man. They have been busy creating their own version of the story through craft.

On Thursday, a bright and sunny day the children enjoyed visiting the ELC beach. Here they discovered sea creatures, beach tents, pools, ice and a favourite - the slip and slide (even Miss Gray had a turn !) The children came dressed appropriately in beach attire to fully appreciate the wet and wild fun that was enjoyed by all , finishing our day at the beach with a big cold icy pole on the hill!!

Langley Room

Another busy holiday week in the Langley Room. The children have been showing an interest in brushing their hair leading to the set up of a hairdressing salon in front of the large mirror. At the salon were brushes, combs, clips, shampoo bottles and conditioner. The children have been taking turns being the customer and hairdresser. This experience prompted role play from which the children were able to draw on their own experiences visiting the hairdresser.

We also took advantage of the lovely weather by joining in beach day with the other children. Lots of splashing, slipping and sliding fun was had. We set tubs of water up in the Langley yard for a splash during the afternoon which kept as lovely and cool.

Welcome Back

Welcome back! It's now 2012 so let's get ready for a fun and exciting new year.

The first week back was very quiet which gave us the opportunity to vist the big school playground and the boy's and girl's have enjoyed spending time across the different rooms.

The children enjoyed juicing some oranges so that we could make ice blocks to share together in the afternoon on Wednesday. This was a real healthy treat!
We had wheels day on Friday and the children brought in their bikes, scooters and prams. They were very excited to ride their own wheels around the ELC.

Remember Beach day (at the ELC)is on this Thursday. Come dressed in your beach wear, don't forget your towel! Get ready for some wet and wild fun!!!!

ELC Team

Langley Room

Welcome back for 2012 everybody. The children were very excited to discover that our tadpole had finally grown legs over the Christmas break and by Tuesday he had lost most of his tail! We quietly peered into the tank to see him perched on top of the rock.
“He’s a frog!” said Marcus excitedly, “he bent his tail” he added.
“He’s a frog, he eats creatures. What colour is he?” questioned Oscar,
“He’s back (black)” answered Max.
“Rana” said Leonardo naming him in Italian.
“He broke his tail” commented Jack S,
“Ribbit, ribbit” said Advaith as the children starting jumping up and down like frogs.
“No tail, it’s a frog” said Erin.

Please don’t forget to keep packing your child’s named hat in their bags for this term.

Kind regards,

Jess, Kerry, Hayley and Pippa

Sadley Miss Hayley will be leaving us at the end of this week as she has been offered a Teaching position at Murray Bridge Child Parent Centre. We will certainly miss her and have appreciated all she has done in her time here . We would like to congratulate her on winning this new position to futher her career !
